Comet Elenin Won't Kill US Says NASA

Elenin

You may have seen the scary headlines. You may have read those alarming emails. But do you believe it? Just in case, NASA has issued the facts about a comet called Elenin. And no, these aren't the "facts" doomsayers will tell you.

In short, the 3-5 kilometer-wide comet can't hurt us. Really, it can't. It's too small and its closest approach to Earth will bring it 90 times the Earth-moon distance. 90 times the Earth-moon distance. That's a whopping 35 million kilometers (22 million miles) away. Could there be any conceivable impact to our everyday lives by this dirty snowball?

ANALYSIS: Will Earthbound Comet Elenin Fulfill 2012 Prophecy?

I seriously doubt this will calm the overactive imaginations of some conspiracy theorists, but NASA has felt the need to respond to the crazy theories being flung around and to address some of the more rational questions. (NASA did a similar thing in 2009 when responding to the 2012 doomsday nonsense, issuing a statement that there was no known astronomical reason for the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012.)

Helpfully, two NASA scientists have been hard at work over the past few months responding to questions from the public. Yesterday, NASA compiled some of the most popular questions, creating an "everything you ever needed to know about Comet Elenin" Q&A.

The Elenin answers were provided by Don Yeomans of NASA's Near-Earth Object Program Office at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., and David Morrison of the NASA Astrobiology Institute at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. Morrison is no stranger to responding to these kinds of questions, having become NASA's in-house 2012 doomsday debunker.

OPINION: Nibiru - Armageddon Planet or Astronomical Baloney? (by David Morrison)

It seems that doomsday theorists and astrologers alike believe that any celestial object, no matter how small or distant, can have some magical influence on Earth. Fortunately, this isn't true.

"So you've got a modest-sized icy dirtball that is getting no closer than 35 million kilometers," said Yeomans. "It will have an immeasurably minuscule influence on our planet. By comparison, my subcompact automobile exerts a greater influence on the ocean's tides than comet Elenin ever will."

Interestingly, the "marauding brown dwarf doomsday theory" has cropped up again, and in one question it's been tied in with the appearance of comet Elenin. If Elenin is actually a brown dwarf, surely that will have a huge gravitational influence on the solar system, right?

INTERVIEW: Where Are You Hiding Planet X, Dr. Brown?

"A comet is nothing like a brown dwarf. You are correct that the way astronomers measure the mass of one object is by its gravitational effect on another, but comets are far too small to have a measurable influence on anything," Morrison replied.

But why isn't NASA talking about Elenin more? "Comet Elenin hasn't received much press precisely because it is small and faint," said the NASA press release. "Several new comets are discovered each year, and you don't normally hear about them either."

"The truth is that Elenin has received much more attention than it deserves due to a variety of Internet postings that are untrue."

So there you have it, every reason in the world why Comet Elenin is a benign threat to our planet.

In related news, the Daily Mail has published an overly excited article about the European Space Agency's upcoming mission to bring Armageddon to an asteroid. (And yes, they mention Bruce Willis more than once. Sigh.) However, it is hard to see where the "news" is.

The article discusses the proposed ESA mission "Don Quijote" -- intended to deflect a small asteroid with a high-speed impactor (although, according to the article, ESA wants to "blow up" said asteroid. Needless to say, the Daily Mail embellished that bit.) But, according to the ESA mission site, which hasn't been updated since 2009, Don Quijote appears to be in the preliminary phase.

Asteroid deflection will be a very important tool in the Earth's cosmic protection armory, but until there's any actual news about an asteroid deflection mission becoming a reality, Discovery News will wait... until there's news.

How to Get a Ghost out of Your House

You've just moved, and you have always been feeling bad about this house. If there are ghosts in the house, this article will (hopefully) help you get it out and to get it to move on. By the way, the list of common signs your house may be haunted are in the Tips section.

Steps

  1. Get rid of negative energy using sage. One way the Native Americans used is a Sage ceremony. It was used to get rid of negative energies in the shelter. To do this, get two packs of sage, burn it, and spread the smoke throughout the house. Say something along the lines of "We mean you no harm, please leave this place in peace." You do not necessarily have to say that, but it has been known to work. However, this method has a few unfortunate downs. See Warnings.
  2. This is a messy way, but spread salt on the windowsills (as salt represents a sort of positive energy).
  3. Cleanse your home. This way is helpful, as you will "kill two birds with one stone". However, this method requires much preparation. To do this, wash everything in your house. All sheets, curtains, everything. Vacuum/hoover the floors and give the house a really thorough cleaning.
  4. Contact your local priest/exorcist. The priest will bless the house, hopefully at the least, making things better. If they don't, turn to the exorcist, who will be able to remove the ghosts.
  5. Go through all the rooms in the house, with a small bell, ringing it quietly in each corner.
  6. Another way is to get a buddy, go through the house holding hands and saying in a firm voice "This is the house for the living, not the dead. You are dead, so we wish you well to seek the light and move on where you ought to be." Be aware that things could get kind of freaky in a matter of seconds, as ghosts often don't realize that they are dead, so reminding it that fact will cause some surprise (wouldn't you be surprised if someone told you that you were dead?)
  7. One other way is to ask the ghost questions, such as "Are you happy that we have moved into this home" and have some kind of code, like one knock on a door is Yes and two is No. This is meant to be handled by experts, though. Ghosts can sense when one is scared, or nervous easily, and can often take advantage of this fact as soon as they realize it. If the answers to your questions are negative, it may be time to look for a new house.
  8. Set out some things that the ghost may have left behind during its time on Earth. If the ghost had a diary, set the diary out and the list goes on.
  9. Pray. Pray on your life that the ghost will go. This is often like blessing the house, and has had results.
  10. Sprinkle holy water (if you are Christian) throughout the house, as this is also like blessing the house, and has also had results.
  11. Using Garlic can help as well, putting garlic in the room, or wearing it around your neck

Area 51

Area 51 is a military base, and a remote detachment of Edwards Air Force Base. It is located in the southern portion of Nevada in the western United States, 83 miles (133 km) north-northwest of downtown Las Vegas. Situated at its center, on the southern shore of Groom Lake, is a large military airfield. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.
The base lies within the United States Air Force's vast Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), formerly called the Nellis Air Force Range (NAFR). Although the facilities at the range are managed by the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, the Groom facility appears to be run as an adjunct of the Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert, around 186 miles (300 km) southwest of Groom, and as such the base is known as Air Force Flight Test Center (Detachment 3).
Though the name Area 51 is used in official CIA documentation, other names used for the facility include DreamlandParadise RanchHome Base,Watertown StripGroom Lake, and most recently Homey Airport. The area is part of the Nellis Military Operations Area, and the restricted airspacearound the field is referred to as (R-4808N), known by the military pilots in the area as "The Box" or "the Container".
The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the U.S. government barely acknowledges, has made it the frequent subject ofconspiracy theories and a central component to unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore.

Bermuda Triangel Mystery Solved !

Computer studies of ocean floors around the world, particularly the area known as The Bermuda Triangle, reveal evidence of massive methane explosions in the past. For years, believers in the paranormal, aliens, and other outlandish theories pointed to the the disappearance of ships and aircraft as an indicator of mysterious forces at work in the “Devil’s triangle.” Scientists have finally pointed the rest of us to a more plausible cause.
The presence of methane hydrates indicates enormous eruptions of methane bubbles that would swamp a ship, and projected high into the air- take out flying airplanes, as well.
Any ships caught within the methane mega-bubble immediately lose all buoyancy and sink to the bottom of the ocean. If the bubbles are big enough and possess a high enough density they can also knock aircraft out of the sky with little or no warning. Aircraft falling victim to these methane bubbles will lose their engines-perhaps igniting the methane surrounding them-and immediately lose their lift as well, ending their flights by diving into the ocean and swiftly plummeting.

The Black Pharaohs

Black Pharaohs Hdr

The Black Pharaohs

An ignored chapter of history tells of a time when kings from deep in Africa conquered ancient Egypt.

In the year 730 B.C., a man by the name of Piye decided the only way to save Egypt from itself was to invade it. Things would get bloody before the salvation came.
“Harness the best steeds of your stable,” he ordered his commanders. The magnificent civilization that had built the great pyramids had lost its way, torn apart by petty warlords. For two decades Piye had ruled over his own kingdom in Nubia, a swath of Africa located mostly in present-day Sudan. But he considered himself the true ruler of Egypt as well, the rightful heir to the spiritual traditions practiced by pharaohs such as Ramses II and Thutmose III. Since Piye had probably never actually visited Lower Egypt, some did not take his boast seriously. Now Piye would witness the subjugation of decadent Egypt firsthand—“I shall let Lower Egypt taste the taste of my fingers,” he would later write.
North on the Nile River his soldiers sailed. At Thebes, the capital of Upper Egypt, they disembarked. Believing there was a proper way to wage holy wars, Piye instructed his soldiers to purify themselves before combat by bathing in the Nile, dressing themselves in fine linen, and sprinkling their bodies with water from the temple at Karnak, a site holy to the ram-headed sun god Amun, whom Piye identified as his own personal deity. Piye himself feasted and offered sacrifices to Amun. Thus sanctified, the commander and his men commenced to do battle with every army in their path.

Taj Mahal: The Hidden Truth

This is a BBC article exposing facts suppressed from the people of India by the "secular" (anti-Hindu) Governments of the Congress and Left parties.

A noted Western historian had written a definitive history book full of irrefutable historical facts that prove beyond a shadow of doubt that the Taj Mahal was a Hindu temple of Lord Shiva that was desecrated and converted into a tomb for his wife by Radical Islamist Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.
The book was banned in India by the "secular" Governments. Now the Internet is making it impossible to keep the Truth hidden away.
